William Morris Placemat - Dark Multi
Special edition developed in collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Inspired by William Morris’s Violet and Columbine, a textile design registered in 1883, this placemat was developed through contemporary weaving techniques with a nod to traditional craftsmanship. Sketching and digital rendering in the Chilewich design studio helped translate the inspiration into a modern woven structure, bringing new functionality to its organic forms, rich colors, and complex pattern repeats.
Terrastrand yarns with 25% renewable vegetable content. Free of phthalates.

Cleaning
- Cleaning is easy. Simply wipe the mat with soap and water, and allow to air dry.
- Mats with visible food residue can be sprayed with soapy water, scrubbed with a soft-bristle brush, or soaked in soapy water and then rinsed.
- Do not clean with alcohol-based cleaning agents, as they can break down TerraStrand yarns over time.
- Citrus-based cleaning agents are also not recommended, as they can cause discoloration.
- Do not wash in dishwasher or washing machine. Do not iron or dry with heat. A high-temperature sanitizer may be used up to once per week.
Storage
- Store Chilewich placemats flat.
- Table runners may be rolled.
- Do not store wet or allow mats to fold or crease.
- In case of creasing, steam using a handheld garment steamer on the lowest heat setting.
