In celebration of The New Yorker's One Hundredth Anniversary, gamemaker Printworks teamed up with the iconic magazine to create a reimagined chess set that captures the true spirit of New York City.

This special edition features the city’s landmarks as chess pieces:

  • the Statue of Liberty as the Queen
  • Eustace Tilley as the King
  • pigeons as Knights
  • yellow cabs as Pawns
  • Brooklyn Bridge arches as Rooks
  • the Chrysler Building as Bishops

Each piece represents a part of New York’s vibrant character, creating a playful tribute to the city that never sleeps. The Chess Set is Illustrated by Christoph Niemann, a recurring contributor to The New Yorker.
