Navratna, meaning “nine gems” in Sanskrit, is a traditional, sacred arrangement of gemstones in Hinduism. Each of these gemstones represents a planet, and this specific arrangement is thought to bring astrological balance that will benefit the wearer.
The necklace is made with natural veg tan leather and sewn with a tiny Emerald, Yellow Sapphire, Cat’s Eye, Blue Sapphire, Hessonite, Coral, Pearl, Herkimer Diamond, and Ruby. The leather will darken over time, with sun and with oil from the skin, bringing out a richer brown color.
It sits on a braided cotton cord with cream colored tassels at the back, and it contains a small pebble from the Pacific Ocean.
